ABOUT CALUMET

In 1997, Calumet Community Center has emerged as a new oasis of hope for the disadvantaged, predominantly Hispanic, community of West Oak Cliff.

The Child Development Center, recreation, and Learning Center, athletic fields and swimming pool are designed to serve the recreational and educational needs of this community. This is part of a long-range plan to improve the lives of our growing young population, which has been troubled with serious issues including high rates of teen pregnancy, juvenile crime, and high school dropouts.

Major program offered include, Head Start of preschoolers, After-school and Summer Programs for school-aged children, and youth program to assist teen in their development.
